( MJ4 ) Jointing Machine No 4

The machine is capable of making in line joints between 0.32, 0.4, 0.5 and 0.63/mm diameter copper conductors. Insulated tinned phosphor bronze crimps (Connectors Wire Insulated No. 4, 6, TC19, TC20) are used for joining the conductors, and the resulting joints have an integrity comparable with soldered twist joints.
The connectors pierce the insulation of the conductor and no stripping operation is involved, they operate equally well with paper or plastic insulation. The connectors are supplied in cassettes which fit in a magazine forming part of the jointing head. The conductors are cut and jointed, and the joint insulated in one operation, the cycle takes approximately 2 seconds.
